How to register crafts business?

Before decision on starting crafts business registration we recommend to study some general guidelines referring to the subject matter (crafts business in general, where to register, legal regulations, …)

You may file the application for crafts registration in two ways:

  • by visiting the competent state administration office in  the county/city Office of the City of Zagreb or
  • by internet, using the e service e-Crafts and e-Citizens. The service e-Crafts is available at website https://e-obrt.minpo.hr/

STEP 1

  • State administration office in the county and its branch offices/City Office of the City of Zagreb competent registration body – according to the registered address of the business. If the application is filed by e-Crafts you do not need to visit the competent office but file application by internet
  • ask for further information (in case of using the e-Crafts read the instructions)
  • collect the required documents:
    • copy of ID card
    • copy of passport,  Certificate of Registered Residence in the  Republic of Croatia or copy of ID card if the person is permanent resident of the Republic of Croatia
    • proof of meeting the special health conditions if provided for by the law
  • evidence proving the right to use the premises if premises are required for running a crafts business
  • for associated crafts businesses: proof on vocational qualifications, Master Craftsmen’s Certificate, Vocational Certificate (if the person filing an application does not meet the special condition on vocational qualifications, adequate secondary school qualification, or master craftsman’s exam he can run associated crafts business provided such a person hires a full time employee meeting the stipulated conditions)
  • fill out the forms available at the state administration office or downloaded the forms (available at the link FORMS)
  • make payments for crafts business registration and for the costs of issuing the Trade Licence (the number of account and amounts available at the state administration office)

STEP 2

  • collect the Decision on Entry in the Register of Craft Business at the State Administration Office (if the application is filed by e-Crafts the Decision will be sent to the citizen’s personal mailbox)
  • make an official stamp
  • open giro account in commercial bank

STEP 3 – HZMO, HZZO

  • registration with the Croatian Institute of Pension Insurance (HZMO)
  • registration  with the Croatian Health Insurance Institute (HZZO)

STEP 4 – Tax Administration

  • registration with Tax Administration (Tax Administration Branch competent for the registered address of the business) for the purpose of entering the craft business into the Register of Taxpayers.
